Hiking
Authentic Contact With Nature
Many people would shrug their shoulders at the thought of hiking in the Bela krajina. Anyone who has or will walk one of the paths through the low karst world and climb one of the peaks will certainly not be disappointed and will be happy to return. Through authentic contact with nature, hikers learn about both natural and cultural heritage. Most of the routes in the White Landscape are properly marked, easily accessible and suitable for families with children or the elderly. More challenging trails lead visitors through the wooded hilly area of Mirna Gora and along the slopes of Gorjanci, from where they offer wonderful panoramic views. Most of the trails offer real classrooms in nature (greenhouses, endangered plant and animal species…), some of them are marked as learning trails. After a more or less tiring walk, hikers can refresh themselves with Belokrajna culinary delicacies and taste a glass of top quality wine at tourist farms, brickyards or catering providers. (For completed groups, it is possible to plan hikes in Bel krajina with local tourist guides, who are available in all three tourist information centers. Many associations, especially in spring and autumn, invite you to organized hikes in Bela krajina.)
